Leo and Virgo: Will They Make a Good Match?

Updated:

A young lion, connected to no pride, stalks the desert alone. He’s hungry yet clumsy, charging forward after his prey, only managing to take down half his prey. But because of his enthusiasm and drive, he’s eager, ready for the next hunt.

Challenges don’t exist for this young lion, and when he stumbles upon a female lion, he’s eager to make a friend. Not only that, but she possesses the hunting skills he does not. She knows how to search for her dinner, and how to wait for when the moment is right. She teaches this young lion how to find patience, and he teaches her–well, that hakuna matata means no worries.

Sure, I may have just described the scene from The Lion King when Simba and Nala first meet, but like all metaphors, there is more than meets the eye friends. First off, if you’re a Leo, you probably know that your symbol is the lion. But I described two lions–so which one is you, Leo? The brave one, eager to make friends and charge forward without a care in the world. Yes, in this metaphor, you’re Simba.

So where does that bring us, Virgo? How is a Virgo connected to Miss Nala? Well, like Nala, you’re practical. You hang behind on the outside, watching from afar, surveying your surroundings, taking notes. Your mind is analytical, and you’re always thinking, using your mind to research your options before you make them.

You two are different, but does that mean you’re destined to butt heads, or will you two learn from one another and take over Pride Rock happy in love? Let’s find out!

Leo Zodiac Symbol

Leo

When I first started learning astrology, I was surprised to find out that you, Leo, were a fixed sign.

Why, you ask?

Well, as a Virgo, I have a handful of Leo friends, and they all share one thing in common. They’re spontaneous and always open to new experiences, something I personally crave.

When a sign is fixed, it means that they are creatures of habit, preferring the patterns they are comfortable with.

But let’s unravel this. See, Leos are natural extroverts. They gravitate toward public places with lots of people, opportunities where they can talk loudly and flaunt their personalities.

Just because someone is a fixed sign doesn’t mean they’re boring. What it actually means is that they are stubborn–and yes, to all my Leo friends out there, if you’re reading this, you know this is true, and I’d say it to your face!

Leo, you like going out more than staying, and therefore, you will be hard-pressed to stay inside when asked otherwise.

That’s not to say every Leo is raging at the bar on a Tuesday night. It just means that you’re fixed in your ways, Leo, and while your ‘way’ may differ from other Leos, you know that if this is something you’re comfortable with, you will not change your mind, no matter the pressure put on you.

After all, you’re brave like a lion, Leo. You don’t buckle under peer pressure. You create peer pressure, and not necessarily in a negative way.

You just know what you like, Leo, and you stick to what you know.

And because your friends know that you’re bound to have a good time, they’ll naturally follow you, and you, Leo, are more than happy to lead.

Virgo Zodiac Symbol

Virgo

Meanwhile, you, Virgo, are often perceived as analytical, someone who prefers to stick to their routine, who prefers to do things exactly as you enjoy doing them.

In other words, you’re often confused at a fixed sign, like Leo, when really, you, Virgo, are a mutable sign.

Zodiac signs considered mutable are adaptable, capable of rolling with the flow of change, and of mediatating disagreements.

I was born August 31st, making me a Virgo, but my moon sign is also in Virgo.

Everyone has a sun sign (the one you know is connected to your birthday) and a moon and rising sign connected to the time you were born.

Your moon sign describes your emotional feelings, your desires, things going on beneath the surface.

As a double Virgo, I consider myself a pretty solid representation of what it means to be this sign. I am definitely the epitome of a mutable sign.

I’m spontaneous and adaptable, more than happy to go with the flow, and yet don’t really like committing to things too far in advance. C’mon, I don’t even know what I want for breakfast.

I’m a perfectionist with my work, my friendships, and myself–and yet I currently have dishes in my sink and 5,908 unread emails in my inbox.

If you’re a Virgo, you can probably relate.

You’re a balance, one foot in, one out, an introverted extrovert, who enjoys socializing but needs to return home to recharge.

Because you’re an earth sign, you’re laid back, but less grounded than the other earth signs like Taurus and Capricorn.

You’re the earth sign standing on the soil looking up at the stars, dreaming big dreams and trying to figure out how to make them happen.

Yet, the back-and-forth nature of your personality that can sometimes be perceived as unreliable, really boils down to one thing.

There’s a constant battle between your head and your heart.

The moment you lead with your heart, you talk yourself down, overanalyzing what you’re focusing on. And when you decide to be logical, your heart whispers, ‘don’t forget about me.’

Leo and Virgo in Friendship

If you walk into a room, you’ll probably be able to spot Leo immediately. They’ll be in the center of the room, commanding attention, animated, talkative, and eager to tell a story.

Virgo may be a little harder to spot. Virgo, you’re a bit like a chameleon in your ability to blend into your surroundings. You can be extroverted when you need to be, but you’re just fine with staying at home and reading a book.

Leo, you’re ruled by fire, and you gain your energy and life force from the people around you. This can work with your Virgo friend–for a while.

Eventually, Virgo, you’ll need to return home to rest and recharge, and for this reason, you’re more than happy to let Leo do their thing.

Leo, you prefer friends like this, who are adaptable and can go with the flow–mainly your flow. You don’t want to be told what to do, and Virgo is more than happy to do their own thing without you. But do you two actually get along?

Friend Date - Calendar

Friend Date: Mani/Pedi or Streaking on the Beach at Midnight?

Leo, you’re always down for an adventure, and when you, Virgo, are in the right mindset, you’re more than happy to throw that book down, hop into Leo’s car, and take a spontaneous road trip to the beach.

You’re flexible, after all, and much prefer spontaneous hangouts over commitments planned weeks in advance.

This will work with Leo’s optimistic nature. Ruled by the sun, Leo, you carry a warmth you want to share with the world, and Virgo, you’ll eat this up.

However, Leo’s stubbornness can prove problematic with Virgo’s indecisiveness. Occasionally, you Virgo, may not know if you prefer going out or staying in and Leo’s patience will only last so long.

Don’t be surprised, Virgo, if Leo leaves you to go do what they want–they’re a fixed sign, remember? But when your paths cross, it’s guaranteed to be a good time and you both will have endless things to talk about and do.

Friend-Fection Icon

Friend-Fection: Keep It on the Dl or Text ‘Love Ya Biatch?’

Virgo, you may be a bit more sensitive than Leo when it comes to the nitty gritty of your friendship–especially if Leo leaves you behind to do their own thing.

You’ll be ready to talk about it Virgo, and Leo, may struggle with this. Leo, you prefer your conversations to be about life, positivity, where you’re going–not where you’ve been.

However, because you value your friendship with Virgo and understand that communication is important to them, you’ll eventually relent and offer Virgo the reassurance they need.

It doesn’t mean you’ll apologize right away, Leo, you’re hardheaded, after all. Virgo may need more of this than you can take Leo, so at the end of the day, the depth of the connection you share will really come down to understanding your differences and accepting the other person for who they are.

Dating Advice Icon

Dating Advice: Send His Name or Send His Social?

Leo, you’re all about meeting new people, and although you’ll befriend everyone, you’re definitely more picky when it comes to dating.

Yet, because you much prefer being in a relationship to being single, you’ll go on dates and explore your options, and you’ll actually find you enjoy it. As long as your potential partner is giving you the attention and appreciation you know that you deserve.

And this is where you will have no issues getting deep with your personal life. Your closest friends will know the depth of your relationships, and even those who don’t know you will probably be aware of this too.

Public fighting is never off the table–especially if you feel like you’re being disrespected.

Virgo, you don’t really get Leo flaunting their problems for the world to see. Leo doesn’t exactly see it like this, but you, Virgo are much more private with disagreements with your partners.

You’re a people pleaser, and you don’t like making people–your friends, family, and strangers–uncomfortable. You’ll go out of your way to keep the drama with your partner behind closed doors.

Yet, with new love, you’ll tell your friends everything, partially because you fall so hard when you meet someone new and it’s all you can think about; also because your heart is battling with your head, and you just need to get your thoughts out of your head.

Leo will be more than happy to listen to you vent about this, but Leo is better at dating advice when they’re on the outside of a situation, and they won’t hesitate to be blunt with you about their thoughts.

It may be hard to hear, but you’ll appreciate it in the long run.

Leo and Virgo in Love

Virgo, you’re detail-oriented, and if you’ve found yourself falling for a Leo, you’ll notice tiny details about them other people may have missed.

You also have a good memory, Virgo, and because you love to please and make people happy, you’ll go out of your way to make your Leo partner feel special.

Leo, you will eat this up. You crave feeling special and need to know your partner is funneling all their attention to you. Leo, while you’re better at receiving grand gestures than giving them, you’ll still go out of your way to make your Virgo lover feel special.

So what’s not to hate? Well, as it turns out, a lot. Because what I just described is the honeymoon stage. And when we’re talking about two signs that wear rose-colored sunglasses like a regular part of their outfit, falling fast and hard for love is not always a good thing.

You both will think you’ve found the one, until you realize that you’ve actually only known this person for two weeks, and you’re not even sure you really like them as a human being.

First Date Icon

The First Date: Roses or KFC?

Now, obviously, if you’ve been friends first, it’s likely that this honeymoon stage will last a little bit longer than two weeks. But it’s also likely that you two will already know from your friendship that you’re incompatible.

But if you decide to give it a shot, it won’t take long to realize that the differences you both accepted in your friendship won’t work in a relationship.

Leo, you need to constantly be moving, charging forward, being in the thick of things. While you’re okay to do this for a little while, Virgo, eventually, you need a break, and you’ll want to just sit at home and relax.

Leo will have no problem leaving you behind, and this will annoy you, Virgo, because you’ve sacrificed your own desires to appease them, and yet they can’t do it for you.

Love Language Icon

Love Language Do’s and Don’ts: A Dealbreaker?

Leo, you want your love to be on display in all the ways–and then some. If you were hard-pressed to pick which type of love language you prefer, you may have difficulty making your choice. You won’t understand why someone wouldn’t pick ‘all of the above’ as an answer.

Real love is about respect on every day of the year, not just on special occasions, and not just in one form. Communication is just as important as touch, which is just as important as gifts, and quality time is equal to acts of service.

The best partners for you, Leo, are ones who don’t care about what love language they receive back because, at the end of the day, while you may not be able to receive all of that at once, you’ll find it a lot less stressful if your partner isn’t asking you to give something too intense back.

Because for you, Leo, your preference for a little of everything means that you’re spread a little too thin to be able to give one specific love language back. And for Virgo, that’s going to be all about communication.

Virgo is ruled by Mercury, the planet of chatter. They’re more than happy to listen, but they need to be heard and understood in return.

Leo, you’re not used to staying quiet long enough to hear what they may need, and once Virgo gets going on something they’re upset about, they don’t really know how to stop.

Put it this way. It’s more likely that you two will get exhausted and run in circles before you figure anything out.

Sexy Time Icon

Sexy Time: Slow and Steady or Chompin’ at the Bit?

Leo, you’ll be faster to make this move than Virgo. You’re a fiery spirit, ready to dive into the thick of things even if you don’t know someone very well.

That’s not to say Virgo hasn’t had their fair share of random experiences, but they’re much less likely to enjoy it than you, Leo.

  • Virgo, you prefer connection and communication, and sharing those things with a partner will enhance your intimacy.
  • Leo, you crave feeling desired, and there’s no better way to do that than in the bedroom.

Because you can connect with anyone, Leo, it’s likely you will offer a safe space for Virgo to take this leap with you. And it will be good, fun even, until you both recognize that the differences in your communication are hindering the similarities in your intimacy.

And then, once this connection between you is lost, there won’t be much more to hold on to.

The Verdict?

Your differences will bond you as friends but will divide you as lovers.
